for my integrated design studio class we were required to create a project inspired by water. i wanted to explore pollution and researched the most polluted items in our ocean. after learning that the most polluted item is cigarette butts, i created a zine inspired by cigarette butt pollution. i collected cigarette butts around the city and made sculptures of everyday life objects using the butts. i photographed smokers within the parsons commnity. i also included a story of my grandmother who was a smoker for more than 50 years and had recently passed. unfortunately, this project was during the teacher’s strike at parsons so I was unable to complete the zine to my liking. i wanted to include more content, interviews, and information on cigarette butt pollution.
